I am a Co-Investigator on the LEADS (Learning Environments Across Disciplines) project, led by Suzanne Lajoie, and funded by a $2.5 million grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.  The goal of LEADS is to “understand the complex nature of cognition and affect by designing a set of controlled studies using technology-rich learning environments to test relationships across disciplines”. I’m contributing to Theme 1: Cognitively and socially-guided learning, which addresses the underlying cognitive and social processes influencing learning, problem solving and decision-making. With Eric Poitras, I’m investigating the use of location-based augmented reality applications (such as my “Niagara 1812” iPhone app, for learning history.
